The Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted transit bail to PTI Zartaj Gul, saving him from possible arrests related to ongoing cases.
In the courtroom session, the Chief Justice, while highlighting the fundamental importance of delivering justice, remarked that if I cannot do justice to anyone, then I should resign.
He Questioned whether Zartaj Gul would have spent the entire night in the High Court if he hadn’t intervened. The (CCPO) Peshawar and (SSP) Operations confirmed in court that Zartaj Gul isn’t wanted in any case and won’t be arrested.
Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan sternly said that if injustice is done to any of our legal professionals, I will call a court session even at 3 am.
Petitioner Zartaj Gul expressed reservations about possible arrest despite being granted bail. In response, the Chief Justice advised them to immediately inform the court and the Inspector General (IG) of any such incident.
The court, while granting bail to Zartaj Gul, made it clear that he should not face arrest under any circumstances. Further, he was directed to submit a bond of Rs 1 lakh by noon the next day.
In reaction to the incident, Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan proactively established a committee chaired by his Personal Security Officer (PSO). The committee’s purpose is to probe the purported misconduct of the policemen towards lawyers.
Meanwhile, the (CCPO) and (SSP) Operations were summoned to appear before the committee and given the task of taking necessary action against the policemen involved considering the evidence presented by the lawyers.
