Lahore – Renowned writer and director Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was allegedly trapped and kidnapped by a woman who posed as a fan. According to Qamar, the incident began when he received a call from a woman named Aamna Rauf around midnight. Claiming to be a fan from the UK and expressing her desire to collaborate on a drama project, she provided her location and invited Qamar to her home.
Qamar, unsuspecting of any foul play, arrived at the given address where the woman was alone. After a brief conversation, she excused herself to receive a pizza delivery. However, instead of a delivery person, seven armed men entered the house. They overpowered Qamar, frisked him, and took his possessions, including an iPhone 11 and important car documents.
The kidnappers further coerced Qamar into revealing his phone’s password, allowing them to transfer all its data. They also forced him to withdraw 670,000 rupees from his Allied Bank ATM and demanded an additional 1 crore.
They blindfolded Qamar and drove him to an unknown location while continuously pressing for more money.
During the ordeal, the kidnappers took Qamar’s expensive watch and insisted he call a friend to arrange for more money. When the friend couldn’t fulfill the demand, the kidnappers fired a gun, Fortunately, the shot did not hit him.
Ultimately, realizing they couldn’t extract any more money from him, the kidnappers left Qamar at an undisclosed location and fled. Despite the harrowing experience, Qamar did not immediately file a First Information Report (FIR).
This delay raised questions, especially given the severity of the incident.
DIG Organize Crime, Imran Kishore, commented on the case, noting the unusual delay in filing the FIR. Many have speculated that the incident was a classic “honey trap,” where individuals are lured by women to be exploited. The perpetrators seemingly believed Qamar to be wealthy and targeted him accordingly.
