Decreased Solar Panel Prices in Pakistan

The cost of solar panels in Pakistan has come down significantly, making them a more affordable option for consumers amid rising electricity bills. Dealers attribute the drop in prices to ample domestic supply and falling rates globally, with prices falling by 30 percent over the past six months.

Currently, panels are available for around Rs37 per watt, down from Rs80 per watt in 2022. This reduction means significant savings for consumers, with the cost of installing a 5kW solar power system decreasing by Rs215,000.

Despite this positive trend, there’s been no change in the prices of inverters and batteries. However, experts predict that the decreasing trend in solar panel prices will continue.

Additionally, recent rumors about the government imposing a fixed tax on solar power have been dismissed by the Power Division. They clarified that no such proposal has been sent to the government, easing concerns about potential additional costs for solar energy users.
