Aamir Jamal made history by becoming the first Pakistani bowler to take 18 wickets in his first Test series, a remarkable feat in Pakistan’s cricketing milestone.
During the New Year Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Aamir Jamal impressed not only with his bowling but also with his batting skills by playing a brilliant innings of 82 runs. His crucial contribution boosted Pakistan’s first innings score significantly.
His brilliant partnership was instrumental in Pakistan scoring 313 runs in the first innings. His contribution strengthened the team.
With an extraordinary display of bowling skills, Pakistan bowled out Australia for 299 runs to take a 14-run lead. The feat saw Aamir Jamal join the ranks of the elite, equaling legendary all-rounder Imran Khan’s incredible feat. Following in Khan footsteps, Jamal now stands as the only Pakistani cricketer to achieve the rare combination of scoring 80-plus runs and taking six wickets in a single match. Khan established this milestone in cricket history in 1983 during a Test match against India.
Aamir Jamal has now become the third Pakistani bowler to win the Best Bowling Figure Award in Sydney. Sydney’s previous best bowling performance is still held by a Pakistani cricketer, Mohammad Asif, who took 6 wickets for 41 runs in 2010.
And Imran Khan took 6 wickets for 102 runs in the first innings of the Sydney Test in 1977. Apart from this, in the second innings, he took 6 wickets by giving 63 runs.
