In a recent press conference, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US Department of State, expressed concern over the ban on a political party in Pakistan. Responding to a question from AAW News about the prohibition on political parties, Miller highlighted that such actions are worrying and require careful consideration.
Miller elaborated on the issue by stating, “The imposition of a ban on a political party in Pakistan, particularly Tehreek-e-Insaf, is alarming. This seems to signal the beginning of a complex process.” He emphasized that the US is concerned about any bans on political parties in Pakistan. Miller mentioned that political violence is a serious issue in many countries, including Pakistan, and the US has consistently spoken against such violence.
The United States has always condemned political violence and supports the rule of law in every country, including Pakistan. He reiterated that the United States supports democratic principles and respects the basic human and democratic rights of people around the world.
Miller was also questioned about the Supreme Court’s decision to grant relief to Tehreek-e-Insaf, a case that had been pending for some time. In response, he emphasized the importance of due process and fundamental principles of justice. Miller stated, “We support the rule of law and equal justice. The US is monitoring all decisions and will continue to keep an eye on future developments.”
